Aluminum black powder coat finish. They've only been on 3 days, so I can't comment on longevity, but initial impression - very pleased! I installed these on my wifes new 2021 super crew cab Ford Ranger. Ford wanted $1000 for theirs, so the $271 price tag of the iBoards was appealing, especially since it included the mounting hardware (others that I looked at sold that separately). The box arrived in a week, slightly creased (I assume from the carrier) but in tact. Overall the packaging was in good shape and the product was protected, it just looked like it had been handled roughly. My son and I installed these in about 30 minutes. The brackets are clearly marked as to where they go, instructions were clear, though basic, however they do not state the tools required (I believe I used a 10mm and 16mm socket as well as a 10mm box end wrench). Mounting bolts come with fender and lock washers and fit right into the truck frame where there are factory holes. We hand tightened until things were lined up then cranked them tight with a socket wrench. The board have square head screws that slide into channels on the under side of the boards - so you can adjust to where you want to align the boards before bolting down. The nuts for mounting the boards have washers but are also the nylon insert type so they should not back off. Again, we hand started these nuts - one was a little hard to start until I changed my angle of attack, then it went right on. I think you'd want to make sure the nut is properly started before you crank it down. I used a socket on most everything, however for the inside nut on the boards I could not crank all the way in with the socket because I could not pull the socket off the bolt if I did. I had to back in off a little, remove my socket, then use a box end wrench to finish the tightening of the inside bolts. Regardless, everything slugged up real nice and my wife is really pleased. They are sturdy (I'm 285 and they didn't budge). I'm happy with this purchase and the overall quality - I hope they are as durable - only time will tell. Very easy to install if you can lay on your back and use a socket wrench.
