When you get this, disassemble it and take it to your lapping set up. Flatten the body, the fence, and remove any of the built up paint. Flatten the blades and then sharpen them. You do all this and this plane will function perfectly. Just don’t get frustrated adjusting it, side rabbet planes can be finicky but when you need one nothing else will do and this one does great.
